First time I ever had one I thought it was all over with! LOL.......... It just "happened". I remember, I took some cold medicine, went to lay down in bed, and then don't remember if I was still awake, or started to doze off, but suddenly felt as if I couldn't breathe. Now obvioulsy when you cannot breathe you begin top panic anyhow. Well, I don't know if the panicking because of that brought on the rest of it, but then came dizziness, heart palpatating/racing, sweating, shaking/tremors.........MAN!! I thought I was history!! Wife took me to hospital, they find nothing. The next night, Im soaking in bath tub, I start thinking about it, and then another begins to come. I had them for about 4 days straight, went to the hospital 1st 3 times. As time goes on, the doctors tell you it's your nerves or stress, but you don't totally believe it which worsens the situation, because you know your own body, and I've always been active, healthy, and played serious sports, and then just all of a sudden this hapens.
Finally, I go to see a lady I kind of know, a therapist, and that's when she gives me some papers & pamplets and explains to me about Panic or anxiety attacks. What she told me then helped me deal with them. She told me "You know by now when you have then that they aren't going to hurt you, or kill you, so when you feel one coming on, just welcome it, say, bring it on". I finally got that through my head. As time went by they went away. I had a coworker, man in his 50's who started having them. He retired because of them. I tried to explain to him they would eventually go away, but of course, my words weren't much help for someone going through them which I understand. I talk to him now, and they did eventually go away......
